As you can see, ELFENTHAL is divided into two different musical formations, and this is the purely classical side of Elfenthal.
Directed by Maite Itoiz, the group is formed by an ensemble of selected musicians, performers of historical instruments and specialized singers. Therefore, the early music ensemble Elfenthal offers a selection of some of the most representative compositions of the Middle Age, Renaissance and Baroque times. (Hildegard von Bingen, Alfonso X, Codex Calixtinus, Llibre Vermell, Juan del Encina, T.L. de Victoria, Claudio Monteverdi...)
Performed like in the old times, but with a very own personality, this fascinating music brings us back to past centuries, making the audience be part of an authentic walk through the time, while the different compositions are linked to each other through some clarifying sentences.
Once more, the strength of Elfenthal are the voices. Purity and feelings in the voice of Maite Itoiz as a soloist, and the complete vocal quartet, together with instruments like viola da gamba, Renaissance lute, baroque guitar, pipes, percussion, flutes...
The concert in itself, up to two hours long, guaranties quivering moments and goose skin.
Surrounded by an atmosphere according to the past ages, the soloists, wearing according to ancient times, aim that not only the early music lovers, but also the public in general discovers the incomparable magic that these compositions provoke, not only evoking past centuries, but also making them alive again, for a moment.
